Poetic Justice

As of late, I have been very self-aware and conscious about the type of energy I put out into the world and likewise, the type of energy that I receive. I have always been a very sensitive person. By sensitive I mean that I have always been able to read people very well and examine their energy - be it positive or negative. I can usually tell a person's true colors within the first few hours around them. However, in the past, I have been known to spot out negative energy and still allow it into my life. The older - well more like wiser - that I have gotten, I have definitely let that go. At this point in my life I have adopted a zero tolerance attitude for negative energy in all forms that it may come.

I'm not sure if you all have seen the movie Poetic Justice starring Janet Jackson and if you haven't then what on earth are you doing with your life? Well, the outfit I am wearing in this post got me thinking about poetic justice and its literal meaning. Side note, if you don't know why this outfit made me think of Poetic Justice, here you go. Great movie! Anyway, literarydevices.net defines poetic justice as "an ideal form of justice in which the good characters are rewarded and the bad characters are punished by an ironic twist of their fate." This got me thinking a lot about the kind of energy I want to put out into the world. I strive every day to be the best person I can be in all aspects of my life. I realize that nobody is perfect and mistakes will always be made, but it is important to me that I at least try every day to do right by everyone I encounter. I hope to always put out good and positive energy and I expect the same from the people I allow in my life. Do good, get good and do bad, get bad.

Go With The Flow

Every now and again it is really important to remove yourself from your every day life and blow off some steam. I never used to be the most adventurous person in my group of friends and frankly I still am not. However, in recent times, I have made it my mission to work on that. I've always been a stick to the schedule and work with the plan kind of girl but I soon learned that life doesn't work that way. No matter how much we plan and schedule, life enjoys throwing curve balls at us. I figured if that's how it's going to be then I'm going to enjoy the ride. These days I am a huge believer in unplanned trips, unexpected fun, and random getaways. I have learned that these are the memories that I cherish the most.  If you truly want to make the most out of life, then every now and again ditch your planner and go with the flow. Thank me later!

My good friends at Rare Credentials sent me this awesome signature croptop from their wonderful clothing collection. As soon as I got it I just knew how I was going to wear it and what I wanted to wear it with. Super obsessed with the big gold RARE print. In lieu of all the challenges going viral on social media lately, I challenge you to look in the mirror and say "They don't make 'em like me anymore ... I'm RARE." Thank me later for the pick me up your day will experience after that.

Girls Love Chipotle

Remember Drake's song "Girls Love Beyonce," well he forgot to mention that girls also love Chipotle. If anybody knows this, its this kid. He totally understands. I'm pretty sure I have my usual chicken burrito bowl with white rice, black beans, medium sauce, corn, sour cream and cheese, three times a week. Oh, I forgot to mention the mandatory side of guac.

My good friend Maude, who shares my love for Chipotle, recently bought me the amazing chipotle shirt I am rocking in this blog post. What better way to express your love for Chipotle -- aside from buying a burrito bowl three times a week -- than a shirt like this? If I don't know anything else, I know that Girls Love Chipotle! And boys too I'm sure but whatevs.

I hope this post made you hungry and I hope you are currently lacing up your shoes and looking for your car keys because its time for your Chipotle run!

xoxo

The Waterway Collection by Warby Parker

As you all know, I love sharing my latest finds and obsessions with you! While browsing around for a pair of new frames, I recently discovered the eye wear brand Warby Parker. I don't know if you all are familiar with the company, but I highly recommend you swing by their website and gush over their frames like I have been doing.

Actually, today Warby Parker launched their brand new collection called "The Waterway Collection." The collection, which is available on their website, is "inspired by warm coastal travels and landlocked staycations by the pool." How relaxing does that sound? I don't know about you, but with the summer coming to an end, I want to surround myself with anything that reminds me of beaches, pools, and summer time shine! Take a look at the aquatic collection below. I am in desperate need of every frame in this collection!

My fave is definitely the Percy. I'm loving the aquatic feel I get from the Percy. The crystal clear frame takes my mind on a journey to the nearest pool side--with me sippin' on homemade pina coladas -- and my UE Boom blasting my fave jams! Thank you Warby Parker for keeping the Summer alive even as Fall creeps up on us! I'm definitely going to purchase the Percy frames and I'm super excited because I found out that for every pair of glasses sold, Warby Parker distributes a pair to someone in need through their non-profit partners. Through their "Do Good" program, Warby Parker has been able to distribute one million pairs of glasses to people in need! WOW! I'm all about fashion for a good cause so Kudos Warby Parker!

If you are obsessing like I am and you need a pair too, the Waterway Collection is available here. Tweet me @shes_so_me and let me know which pair you are gushing over.

YONCE

Somebody please tell me to have a seat because I am obsessed with my Yonce shirt  and I have no qualms with wearing it once a week. Aside from my Beyonce obsession, I'm sure the other reason I love it so much is because of the hour I stood in line at the On The Run Tour Atlanta Show waiting to buy this shirt. Don't let me get started on that one hour wait that felt more like four!

Anyway, tonight is date night with the #bae and I opted for a casual get-up. These awesome New York & Company shorts have the most amazing and comfy elastic waist. These shorts are the coolest because of how versatile they are. I can dress them up with a nice blouse or dress down like I have with this Yonce tee.

Anyway, I hope you all are having a wonderful Friday. If tonight is date night for you too, share your outfits with me. Tweet me @shes_so_me

FULL effect

Today is the last day of the greatest month ever and I hope you all have had a wonderful month of May. This month of course was my birthday month and I had a blast ... all month long. Anywhoo, lately I've been very into the full skirt - both short and knee length. Full skirts are perfect blend of suttle glam and femininity. I love full skirts. I feel like such a princess every time I wear one. I wore the most glamorous midi full skirt for my birthday celebration and I kind of wish I did a blog post for you to see! Anyway check out this full skirt I purchased from Express recently and how I styled it! The full skirt is now in FULL EFFECT!

ROMPERstiltskin

Hello She's So Me readers! Sorry I've been sort of M.I.A. lately. There's been a lot going on in this here thing I call life!! However, I am back! That being said,  I want to tell you guys all about my LOVE for the romper! Here are three words that should explain this love -- I LOVE ROMPERS! Rompers are pretty much going to be my go-to summer gear.

So check out my Hawaiin print stretch cotton skater romper that I recently purchased at Express. Not only is this romper unique because of its print, but it is also extremely soft and SUPER comfortable. I think the comfort derives from the skater style. I was literally running around all day and not once did my outfit get in my way. To be honest, I probably could have climbed a mountain in this romper. This romper is everything a romper is supposed to be...cute, comfortable, and easy to wear. If you look in my closet right now at all the rompers I am racking up, I'm pretty sure you are going to want to call me ROMPERstiltskin!

Also, did you all peep my box braids? WOWzers right? I found myself a new hair braider and SHE KILLS THE GAME! That's all folks! xoxo!

Emerald Dream

Hey Everyone! Sorry, I've been a tad bit M.I.A but I'm back with a new blog post for you all.

So, the other day I went to my new favorite store Fab'rik and I fell in love with the variety of belts they had in the store. This was really weird for me because I NEVER usually find beauty in belts. Belts are usually just a necessity to keep my boyfriend jeans up but for some reason these belts really caught my eye and I HAD to have them.

This emerald and gold belt that I am wearing in today's blog post is one of the two belts that I bought. If you know me, you know that I am IN LOVE with earthy tones. Probably because emerald is my birthstone color (MAY BABY!). I decided to add the belt to this beautiful maxi dress to a little dash of something different. I wouldn't necessarily call it "a pop of emerald green" because it is a very subtle color. However, I think its the subtlety that makes it so perfect! This belt is an Emerald Dream come true!

Floral Arrangement

I don't know if any one is as excited as I am about the arrival of Spring 2014. If you having been keeping up with the latest on She's So Me, then you are aware of my love for Spring weather and fashion.

In the world of fashion -- and Joanna -- this season is totally about florals. I always get asked how to style a statement floral piece and my first thought is literally "It's a floral arrangement." When dealing with a statement floral piece like the wide leg pants I have on, you have to arrange your outfit around that piece.

When creating a floral arrangement, you typically have to decide a color scheme, which flowers you plan to use, and what items you will add for the purpose of décor. The same goes for your floral inspired outfit. You have to decide what color scheme you want to go with, which pieces will you be wearing and what accessories are necessary to complete the outfit.

Long story short, playing around with floral prints should be nothing short of F.U.N! It is all about mixing and matching -- or not matching at all for that matter.
